Preparing your journey

Health care and medical facilities are at a reasonable level in Tanzania. Vaccination against yellow fever is compulsory, as is a cholera certificate. Vaccination against Hepatitis A, Diphteria and Typhoid is recommended. Ask your GP or health centre 4 to 6 weeks prior to your departure.

It is certainly advisable to take malaria tablets like, for instance, Malarone. A mosquito net is usually available in hotels and lodges. Rub in Deet 50% in the evening and wear a long sleeved shirt and long trousers. Taking vitamin D tablets can also help against mosquitoes.

Take a travel bag or rucksack and a smaller bag or rucksack as hand luggage. A suitcase takes up too much space on safari. Try not to take more than a maximum total weight of 15-20 kilos per person.
